The United States men’s national team is back in action on Monday in a friendly against Bolivia in Chester, Penn., with a young, talented-filled squad leading the way. There’s Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund), Weston McKinnie (Schalke), Tim Weah (Paris Saint-Germain) and Josh Sargent (Werder Bremen) among others on the roster.

Both countries bring young squads to Pennsylvania, with neither getting set for this summer’s World Cup
These are not the matches the United States wanted to play heading into the summer of 2018.

But with the Americans absent from the World Cup for the first time since 1986, it’s time to look to the future. Interim coach Dave Sarachan brought in a young roster, and interim Bolivia boss Cesar Farias has done the same for his debut leading La Verde.

The prospects of both nations will be on display, with the U.S. hoping to find the chemistry needed to make sure they’re back to their best prior to the 2022 World Cup.

With Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie leading the charge after standout Bundesliga seasons, there should be something in the contest in Chester, Pennsylvania, to get U.S. fans hoping once again.

As far as the United States’ upcoming opponents go, Bolivia seem a suitable appetiser for the more testing clashes with the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Saturday and the meeting with France in Lyon on June 9.

Only a handful of players in the Bolivia squad play outside the country’s domestic league, while many in Sarachan’s squad are tried and tested in some of Europe’s top divisions.

One of those most unfortunate to miss out on the World Cup is Borussia Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic, who gave his assessment on how things went awry in the qualification campaign:
